When a fire breaks out in a vehicle or on a two-wheeler, the priority is to prevent the flames from spreading until the fire brigade arrives. The aim is not to replace the fire brigade, as only professionals can extinguish a fire, but to limit the damage. When a vehicle catches fire, you have to react quickly to prevent it from exploding and spreading to other cars or property.
That’s why Flamastop designs and manufactures fire blankets in Europe. Thanks to their composition of high-performance technical fibres, they are :
- Incombustible ;
- Reusable;
- Effective in extinguishing a fire in a thermal vehicle, and in limiting and containing a fire in an electric vehicle and a lithium battery.
An innovative concept that meets the needs of different sectors and helps fight fires.
What is the concept of our Flamastop company?
A vehicle fire can spread into its surrounding area, or damage nearby installations or other property. It can also cause significant material, human and environmental damage.
When a fire breaks out, the danger is ever-present. That’s why it’s vital to prevent the flames from spreading. There are several ways to do that, including fire blankets.
Our Flamastop concept was researched and developed by our own staff. It was then developed and tested by our engineers.
Our fire blanket is now available for sale, allowing persons close to a fire to take action to contain the flames by deploying it over a vehicle. Two people are needed to use it. But no training is required. It can therefore be used by a wide range of people. However, it can be removed only by firefighters.
What are the risks in the event of a thermal or electric vehicle fire?
There are many causes of a vehicle fire: overheating of the engine, electrical system failure, faulty construction, etc. But whatever the origin, it is essential to contain the flames quickly to prevent their spread and limit the risks:
- Material damage (destruction of a building, surrounding installations or other vehicles, for example);
- Loss of human life;
- Air, soil and groundwater pollution due to the release of smoke, vapours and toxic substances.
How to stop flames spreading during a vehicle or two-wheeler fire with Flamastop?
If the fire involves a thermal vehicle, our blanket can cut off its oxygen supply, smother it and therefore extinguish it.
If it concerns an electric vehicle, putting out the fire from a lithium battery is much more complex than putting out the fire from a thermal motor. The role of our solution is therefore to :
- reduce the temperature produced by battery combustion ;
- limit thermal expansion;
- prevent the spread of flames while waiting for the fire brigade to arrive.
It works in the same way for a thermal or electric two-wheeler with a lithium battery (bike, scooter or motorbike, for example).
Our Flamastop solution therefore helps to prevent risks and completes the range of fire-fighting equipment already available. In addition, the technical fibres used to manufacture our blankets :
- Have been tested in official and accredited laboratories;
- Comply with the most stringent reaction-to-fire classification standards on the market.
Fire-resistant and high-performance, these fibres guarantee the effectiveness of our solutions.
